Why Learn Cybersecurity

In cybersecurity, you'll be on the front lines of a company's digital defense, protecting their systems and sensitive data from cyber-attacks. The cybersecurity field offers robust career and financial opportunities, with a zero percent unemployment rate and plenty of available jobs. The average entry-level Cybersecurity Analyst salary in Dallas is $83,200 (Lightcast™ . 2022). Obtaining additional security clearances may result in a pay raise in the cybersecurity field.

The Demand for Cyber Talent

There are many opportunities in Texas and across the United States. According to research from cyberseek.org, in Dallas alone, there are currently over 19,000 open cybersecurity roles and a very low supply of cybersecurity talent.

Nationally, there are over half a million cyber jobs that employers are trying to fill. Businesses actively seeking cybersecurity professionals span across all industries and sizes, and they include local high-tech employers like KPMG, Accenture, and USAA, to name a few.

These companies are hiring for roles like IT Help Desk Specialist, Systems Support Specialist, and Cybersecurity Analyst. Grads studying the UT Dallas Cyber Bootcamp curriculum have been hired for all of these roles—and more.
