How the UT Dallas Coding Bootcamp Works

The UT Dallas Coding Bootcamp is designed for students to pursue high-quality tech education while continuing to balance work or other commitments. Our program provides you with the flexibility to fit career development into your life.

  • Part-time and full-time bootcamp programs are available.

  • Bootcamp classes combine live online instruction taught by industry-experienced professionals with independent learning assignments.

  • Tuesday and Thursday Classes (With an Optional Lab on Wednesdays)

    • 8:30am-11:30am CT

    • 5:30pm-8:30pm CT

    Monday and Wednesday Classes (With an Optional Lab on Tuesdays)

    • 7:30pm-10:30pm CT

    Labs correspond with the start time of your regular classes. Participation in the weekly lab is optional, but strongly encouraged.

  • All classes are held Monday-Friday.

    • 9:30am-2:00pm CT

  • The coding curriculum is broken up into five units:

    1. Front-End Foundations: Explore the fundamentals of front-end web development, including CSS, HTML, and Command Line Interface.

    2. Front-End Development: Deep dive into JavaScript, the Document Object Model, test-driven development, and more.

    3. Development Libraries: Discover the purpose of React in JavaScript development, React routing, and executing custom code with Hooks.

    4. Back-End Development: Learn back-end development, Structured Query Language (SQL), and API routes.

    5. Full-Stack Development: Complete a Capstone project and expand your portfolio.

  • Our students have been able to successfully balance work, family, and other life commitments while pursuing a bootcamp. We offer full-time and part-time schedules for our programs, so students can select a schedule that best fits with their lifestyle. Our rigorous full-time bootcamp is held Monday through Friday. Full-time students spend about 30 hrs/wk in classes. Part-time courses are 3 weeknights per week—and students can expect to spend 10 hrs/wk in class. Both full-time and part-time students should plan for an additional 15-20 hrs/wk of independent coursework.

  • Yes, the UT Dallas Coding Bootcamp is beginner-friendly. It’s specifically designed for professionals who have no previous experience in coding. While some background knowledge is helpful, the only expectation is that students have general computer literacy skills in basics like efficiently using the internet/cloud and Windows.

  • Your time with our career success team will include everything from workshops to one-on-one office hours to phone chats before big interviews. And on top of all that, the team will be working behind the scenes to find openings that are right for you and staying up-to-date on the latest recruiting trends to make sure they prepare you for everything.

  • To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old and a high school grad/GED holder by the start date of your intended cohort.
